Spread This Idea

Where

Districtwide

My project idea is...

to coat as many roofs as possible in District 39 with a highly reflective heat reducing coating. This would not only save energy costs but also reduce the "Urban Heat Island Effect".

So that people could...

lower the temperature of the entire neighborhood and thereby the whole city. Saving money for everyone. Working with programs like "NYC Cool Roofs" can significantly reduce costs of the coating and most of the work is done by volunteers saving on labor. While not as visibly evident as a new streetlight or bike lane; when completed, its impact will be seen monthly on our electric bills.
