My idea to improve this place

Build an outdoor pedestrian / bike-in movie theatre somewhere in an empty lot in downtown that shows current release films. Of course you would have to have food available.

So that people could... 

enjoy the outdoors at events that don't have to include alcohol. In addition, it would be nice to see more local foot and bike traffic. Not to mention that it would also be good for tourism.

Because I want San Antonio to be...

a place that feels welcoming. I would probably go out more often and spend more money in downtown if there were places that helped me feel like I was in a real community. (flickr photo by BF210 )

Charge less for parking. 10 to 20 dollars for Fiesta is INSANE! It is even more by the Rivercenter Mall. Local people avoid downtown because they do not want to pay for parking.

Turn the Institute of Texan Cultures into a centerpiece for Hemisfair the way the Met is for Central Park. Build a more attractive building that opens up right onto Durango.
