Turn El Mercado into thriving public market for fair trade goods & heirloom foods of "the Americas" bring back the chili queens, but healthy.
So that people could...
find quality produce and healthy fresh ingredients on Produce Row, and buy ethically-produced & distributed artisan wares in San Antonio's downtown core.
Because I want San Antonio to be...
Because I want downtown, which has been made a food desert by our local grocery chains power wars, to become a destination for quality, fresh, local food and goods. A place where our historic culture fosters innovative healthy commerce, not just an anachronistic tourist depot.

I remember as a child going to farmers market to buy produce. This was not long ago, as I am only 37. I miss this aspect of downtown. It is called farmers market after all!

Replace city asphalt parking lots with Public fountains ... like Seattle's City Center Fountain. They did it and it doesn't even get hot in Seattle!

DIRTY CORNERS that remind me of REAL Mexico where the walks never get cleaned. Especially disgusting are the dark chewing gum spots all over the walks. They unappealing for both tourists AND locals.

all of downtown, but especially the sidewalks at bus stops in front of the Mercado. Even the sidewalks leading to Bohanans are filthy with gum spots and debris., 0.15 Kms
