COPENHAGEN - In his first interview since moving here, reformed global-warming denier and ex-radio show host Rush Limbaugh said he has secretly vacationed in Copenhagen for years.
Limbaugh's whereabouts had been a mystery since his network radio show was cancelled in February due to low ratings. A video posted last week on YouTube showed a man who looked like a trimmed-down Limbaugh walking brisking down the city's main pedestrian street while being tugged along by a wolfhound dressed in a turtleneck.
Appearing on Denmark’s TV 2 today, Limbaugh said the experience of facing up to his addiction to painkillers gave him the strength to come clean about his admiration for the Danes, who he often ridiculed on his radio show.
"I love it here," said Limbaugh. "I mocked you Danes because I was secretly envious of your happiness - your lovely cities, spirited sense of public life, alternative energy development and great food. And look at me. I've lost weight now that I am bicycling everywhere. I don’t miss the radio show at all. I have a lot more fun teaching a Tai Chi course at Tivoli Gardens to young Moslem immigrants."
