Be prepared to submit a thoughtful cover letter and a resume. Some internships may also request a writing sample or a portfolio of your design work as part of the application.
Internship hours will be determined individually with each intern, based on the needs of the program at the time and the intern’s schedule. The intern must be available for work between the hours of 9:30am – 5:30pm Eastern Monday – Friday.
All of our internships are remote, though some may require in-person work in New York City or on location at a project. Each internship description will include location details.
PPS interns are paid as hourly staff. School credit is also available upon request.
The skills related to each internship are detailed in the listing. Generally, interns gain a better understanding of the work Project for Public Spaces does and the ways to engage stakeholders in a community visioning and planning process. The opportunity to enhance specific skill sets such as research, writing, and design depend on the needs of the internship.
We offer internships to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, professionals, and other qualified candidates.
We do accept applications internationally, however we are unable to provide visas. Non-US citizens must provide their own visas that permit them to work in the United States.
Due to the high volume of applications that we receive for our internships, we are unable to respond to everyone and will only be in touch with applicants who are invited for an interview. We will do our best to respond to as many submissions as possible.
