Roberts Point Park in Port Aransas, TX is home to waterfront family fun. This 50-acre park is located on a peninsula that juts into the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and forms a safe harbor for the municipal harbor that has 250 boat slips for permanent and transient vessels. The park is clearly visible as visitors ride the ferryboats from the mainland to Port Aransas on Mustang Island. Many folks may drive, bike, walk or take the free local trolley to the park from stops along a one-hour loop that runs through Port Aransas.

Roberts Point Park is the host site for activities and events throughout the year in this tourist destination in South Texas. The park features a large pavilion for special events such as fishing tournaments, fish weigh-ins, family cookouts, and school outings. There is also a stage for performances during festivals or other local talent events. Fisherman can enjoy their sport from the granite jetties that mark the harbor, the lighted fishing pier, or the bulkheading that surrounds the park. The one-mile bulkheaded perimeter also serves as a walking, jogging, and cycling trail with benches and palapas (shade umbrellas) along the route.

An observation tower overlooks the ship channel and provides an excellent spot for watching the dolphins as they lead the ships in and out of the channel. An amphitheater sits on the peninsula point and serves as a music venue for seven monthly concerts that are presented to the public free of charge from April through October. A picnic pavilion offers shaded picnic tables adjacent to shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, basketball court, sand volleyball, a soccer field, and playground equipment for the younger crowd. A xeriscape garden with plant and wildlife habitat educates and entertains visitors as they prepare to leave the island on the road to the ferry.

The park is located so that any visitor leaving the island on the ferryboats either passes by or through the park. The local trolley makes several stops in the park on its one-hour circuit through Port Aransas. Bicyclists, walkers and joggers (with or without pets) make use of the one-mile bulkhead along the Corpus Christi Ship Channel.

Roberts Point Park is the first attraction visitors see as they cross the Ship Channel on the ferryboats. Numerous picnic tables make family gatherings easy to plan. Parks and Recreation groundskeepers pick up litter daily. City crews dump trash cans two to three times a week or as needed during peak usage seasons. Lights from the fishing pier help make the area feel secure at night. Police patrol on a regular schedule to look after those out for a night of fishing.

The park is a major attraction for the City. Fishing tournaments, soccer programs, school outings, birding, charter boat services, and transient and permanent boat moorings (250 slips) are available. The park plays host to all ranges of people and groups from pre-school to retirees.

The park is a centerpiece of community activity. Cook-offs, festivals, fishing tournaments, pet shows, carnivals, concerts, talent shows and other social gatherings have been organized at Roberts Point Park. Solitary walkers, groups of fishermen, civic clubs, and couples strolling in the evening can be found in the park throughout the year. The park is one of the most sociable places on the island, with benches for sitting and watching the ships pass by, a pier and jetty for a variety of fishing venues, green grass and playgrounds for kite flyers, kids of all ages, and sport participants.
